The Proposed Action includes a new 3-story clinical expansion building at the San Francisco VA Medical Center campus for psychiatric care and sleep lab studies. The proposed action would relocate and consolidate existing psychiatric care and sleep lab units to better serve existing needs and accommodate an expansion of services. The current campus facilities in which these services are provided are in poor physical condition with deficiencies in indoor air quality, patent safety, noise, and lack space for critical functions. In order to create space for the construction of the new building, existing Building 20 (Garage) and Building 32 (Child Care Center) would be decommissioned. Prior to decommissioning Building 32, a new Child Care Center and playground area would be constructed in the northeast corner of the campus, north of existing Building 11. This would provide a quieter and more secure location for child care services, as compared to its current location next to a parking lot and Clement Street.
