Document Description
The project is located at the Buena Vista Ave. /Parkside Dr. intersection in Walnut Creek. There are existing sidewalks on Buena Vista Avenue and Parkside Drive outside the project limits but no sidewalks within the project limits. The City of Walnut Creek has received a State Safe Routes to School program grant to improve pedestrian access and safety through the intersection. The project consists of new sidewalks on one side of Parkside Dr. and Buena Vista Ave., connecting to existing sidewalks outside the project limits and connecting the crosswalks providing continuous sidewalks and disabled access. A 3-foot high retaining wall would be built in the northeast corner. The drainage ditch along the north side of Parkside Dr. would be replaced with a new 42-inch culvert and 17 trees would be removed. All improvements would occur within the City right-of-way.
