The project consists of installation of buoy lines across, and warning signs along, the 82-mile length of the All-American Canal (AAC) to provide any humans who may fall into or try to swim across the canal, a means to safely climb out of the canal. Each buoy line will consist of: 1)steel 10-inch double helix anchors drilled into each bank of the canal; 2) nylon covered wire rope; 3) approximately 9 orange floats; 4) strobe lights installed at each cable anchor; and 5) cargo netting from the waterline to top of the bank in the unlined portion of the canal. The buoy lines will be installed every ½ mile along the 23 miles of the concrete-lined canal every1 mile along the 59 miles of unlined canal, resulting in approximately 105 buoy lines along the AAC. In addition, warning signs will be installed every 600 feet on both sides of the canal.
