Document Description
Note: Schools within or adjacent to project boundary are: Parkway Middle School, Northmont Elementary School, Grossmont High School, Murray Manor Elementary School. The City of La Mesa is embarking on the second phase of sewer remediation to correct sewer overflows due to wet weather inflow and infiltration into the sewer system. The City will be applying to the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) State Revolving Fund (SRF) Loan Program to fund the replacement of up to 100,000 linear feet of sewer pipelines, which are vitrified clay pipelines, would be replaced with polyvinylchloride or high-density polyethylene pipelines. The replacement of the sewer pipelines would reduce the additional storm water intrusion and would ultimately reduce the amount of sewer flows that would be discharge to the Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant. The proposed project would be constructed in multiple phases and be implemented by geographic area. It is estimated that 12,000 to 15,000 linear feet of pipeline would be replaced per year. To increase the ease of maintenance and ensure adequate future capacity, existing 6-inch pipelines may be upsized and replaced with 8-inch pipelines, consistent with the minimum pipeline size identified in the City' Design Guidelines. Some existing 6-inch and 8-inch pipelines may be rehabilitated (lined) rather than replaced, depending on their current condition.
