SMWD approved Phase 1 of the Project, which would pump an average of 50,000 AFY of water from the groundwater basin underlying the Cadiz and Fenner Valleys and the adjacent Bristol Valley over a 50-year period, delivering the water to SMWD, Three Valleys MWD, Golden State Water Company, Suburban Water Systems, Jurupa CSD, CA Water Services Company and the Arizona & CA Railway Company via a wellfield with up to 34 wells and a 43-mile pipeline to the Colorado River Aqueduct. Phase 2, if considered and approved, would construct spreading basins to recharge surface water into the groundwater basin and convey stored water back to Participants.
