The Army Corps of Engineers will conduct boring/drilling operations along the top, landscape toe and 100 feet away from the landside toe in agricultural land. The project will consist of 38 borings taken during the months of February and March of 2011. The geotechnical work is necessary to facilitate the design of the Mid-Valley Levee Improvement Project.

Reasons for Exemption
The project will have no impact on the environment. There is no Giant garter snake habitat at the location and crews will not be working within 20 feet of any elderberry shrub drip line. All work is on the landside of the levee.
