- Document Description
- The KRFMWP is a multi-objective program to increase flows of water in the Kern River and protect and preserve the City's municipal water supply to meet present and future demands for water. The primary objective is to allow substantial quantities of water formerly diverted from the Kern River to remain in the river to protect, increase, and enhance groundwater supply. The KRFMWP directly supports the City's long-term planning process and policies to conserve, protect, and enhance the natural resources of the Kern River while providing flood management and water supplies. Additional benefits of the program include increasing groundwater recharge, sustaining municipal water resources, enhancing riverine ecology and habitats, improving water quality, increasing recreational opportunities, and improving aesthetics.
