Document Description
The project is a regional program for the control of non-native Spartina in Humboldt Bay, the Eel River Delta, and the Mad River Estuary. The goal of the Project is to control dense-flowered cordgrass (S. densiflora) and restore tidal marshlands in the project area, which provide habitat for a diverse community of plants and wildlife, including several special status species. It is estimated that the control of S. densiflora could enhance 2,000 acres of tidal wetland. The proposed regional program for the control of non-native Spartina in the Humboldt Bay region may utilize one or more of the following treatment and control methodologies: mechanical removal; manual removal; mowing; covering/blanketing; flooding; flaming of seedlikngs or application of herbicide.
