- Document Description
- The proposed project involves the construction and operation of a photovoltaic system on an approximately 5-acre hillside site adjacent to the County Jail at 4434 Calle Real in Santa Barbara (refer to Figure 1, Project Vicinity). The project is a photovoltaic system that will produce approximately one megawatt (MW) of electricity to help power the County jail facility and other nearby County facilities. Approximately 5,000 individual solar panels would be installed on a portion of the hillside behind the existing County Jail buildings. Each photovoltaic panel would be approximately six feet by three feet in size and mounted in clusters or rows of panels, with a mosaic of several panels per mounting unit. The project would require the installation of power inverter equipment, which would be enclosed in an inverter shelter building of approximately 500 square feet.
