- The project proposes to use grant funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to upgrade the cyber infrastructure (wireless internet access and data transmission equipment) at the UC Natural Reserve System (NRS) property at Dawson-Los Monos Canyon. The project is needed for the NRS to manage modern methods of data collection and data sharing, improve their capacity to stream live data, and achieve reliable and precise control and coordination of multiple sensors and instruments that support their research programs. The proposed improvements would consists of installation of four powered, low profile repeater stations and one solar powered mesh network radio. Minimal excavation is required for the supports. No utility line trenching is required. No environmental impacts are anticipated.
