Document Description
Peters Creek, a tributary to Pescadero Creek, is known to provide important spawning and rearing habitat for steelhead (Oncohynchus mykiss) and coho salmon (Oncorhynchus Kisutch). At this time, a very large log jam blocks steelhead and coho salmon from accessing approximately 6-8 miles of suitable spawning and rearing habitat upstream. CDFG proposes to modify parts of the log jam piece by piece, primarily using hand labor and possibly a longline and winch, so as to improve fish passage at this structure as well as pass logs so as to produce more habitat structures/log jams downstream. All wood that is believed to provide habitat will be left in the stream, and no wood will be cut unless deemed absolutely necessary for wood relocation/repositioning.
