Document Description
This proposed project would be used within the Department and Unit to train firefighters in wild land fire suppression tactics. An additional benefit will be to assist department law enforcement and fire investigators in the determination of origin and cause of wild land fire. The project will consist of small burns that will be ignited and immediately suppressed. Vehicle Traffic in the form of a fire engine(s) will accompany the ignition process to maintain controllable suppression and occur. Vehicle(s) will travel over the area in single, slow passes in general, and for the suppression entry only. Access will be upon established travel ways.

Reasons for Exemption
The project is intended to be a training function for fire suppression, and investigation of fire origin and cause. It will also serve a vegetation maintenance function, utilizing burning, on existing public facility grounds to eradicate and control invasive non-native plant species. The project will fall within areas on the existing facility grounds which have been previously developed (graded, leveled, burned) and annually maintained. The areas of potential disturbance (burning) are limited and best described as minor in scope.
