Replace twenty-seven unsafe and crumbling non-historic diablo style stoves/barbeques with 36" diameter fire rings at George J. Hatfield State Recreation Area to allow campers a safe location to have fires. Work will remove existing above ground stoves using a backhoe; excavate three 8" diameter X 2' deep holes per new fire ring; pour concrete footings into holes to prevent removal; and install the fire rings.
Project consists of replacement of existing structures where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced; and minor public alterations in the condition of land, water, and/or vegetation which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees.
