- Document Description
- This project proposes CUP 09-011 to bring the existing dairy facility into compliance with Merced County's permit requirements and to expand the existing dairy so that the modified dairy would house a total of 7,266 animals. This would represent an increase of 2,126 animals from existing numbers. The proposed project would include construction of a new freestall barn, heifer pens, cattle shades, wastewater treatment and storage ponds, calf hutches, and a mechanical manure separator. Construction of the proposed facilities would result in the conversion of ~ 50 acres from cropped uses to active dairy facilities. With conversion of these cropped acres, ~455 acres the project site would be used for the production of forage crops and the disposal of wastewater.
