Naval Air Weapons Station-China Lake constructed two new arsenic treatment plants (Well 25RW & DSL#2 Sea Site 3) in March 2006 to reduce naturally occurring arsenic from two existing water supply wells (Wells 25 & Sea Site 3) serving the Navy's South Range Complex. The DSL#2 Sea Site 3 Arsenic Treatment Plant is located immediately adjacent to the Sea Site 3 Well. The Well 25RW Arsenic Treatment Plant treats water from Wells 24 & 25 and is located within the same fenced compound as Well 24. The treatment method for both arsenic treatment plants uses an adsorption process utilizing granular ferric hydroxide. Upon permitting, the water system intends to use Well 25 only for emergency purposes.
