Document Description
CDCR proposes to alter the existing wastewater treatment plant at the California Men;s Colony by installing an ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system. THe purpose of the proposed project is to achieve regulatory compliance with the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Boards's final effluent limitations for trihalomethanes (THMs), and the United States Environmental Protection AGency's Findings of Violation and Order for Compliance. The proposed project would upgrade the existing wastewater disinfection process by replacing the existing liquid chlorine disinfection system with a UV disinfection system that would eliminate the formation of THMs. The UV disinfection system would be installed in a developed (graded and paved) area located between the different structures of the existing water treatment system. The system itself would be installed on a concrete slab within a rectangular footprint measuring approximately 30 feet by 100, and would be covered with a steel deck roof canopy.
