Landels-Hill Big Creek Repeater
NOE - Notice of Exemption
The purpose of the project is to enhance the interest satellite connection of the University's Landels-Hill Big Creek Reserve, and improve the transmission of the signal within the Reserve. The project will install a low-profile repeater station on a ridge approximately 3/4 mile from Highway 1 at an elevation of about 850 feet, and a 10-inch square mesh radio on each of two existing modern structures, the Gatehouse near Highway 1, and the Research Cabin at Whaler's Point. The repeater station would consist of a footlocker-size metal box with sealed batteries and electronics mounted on cement piers or pipes, powered by on-site solar panels, with a total footprint of 7 feet by 10 feet and a height of 6 feet.
15-inch, non-reflective panel antenna would be the only project element that would be within the line of sight from Highway 1, but it would be too small to be readily visible from Highway 1 with the naked eye.
