Document Description
The Meadow Lakes North shaded fuel break is part of a series of planned and existing treatments by CALFIRE, USFS, and Highway 168 Fire Safe council to provide wildfire community defense to Shaver Lake and the surrounding communities. Meadow Lakes North provides connectivity to the Meadow Lakes and Acorn Road fuel breaks to provide direct wildfire protection to the community of Meadow Lakes, and indirect protection to the watersheds and communities in the vicinity of Shaver Lake. This project lies at approximately 4,400 feet and contains 36 acres of brush and tree species consistent with west side sierra mixed conifer toward the lower end of its elevational range. This project provides for fuel break installation and maintenance by selectively removing vegetation to eliminate ladder fuels.
