Document Description
The Lone Pine Fuel Reduction project is designed to improve the fire protection for Lone Pine, CA, for reducing fuel loads in strategic locations surrounding the community. This project will utilize hand crews, chippers and a masticator. A total of five treatment areas surrounding Lone Pine will be treated, totaling approximately 55 acres. The treatment areas were selected by the local fire safe council due to the high fuel loads and fire threat they pose to the community. Four of the treatment areas will be treated by hand crews with chainsaws. The slash will be chipped and "broadcast" on-site. Brush/shrubs will be removed to eliminate the horizontal continuity and eliminate ladder fuels.
