The approximate 3.5-acre Site is located at 111 Pleasant Avenue. The Site was previously a rural residential parcel that was recently purchased by the Windsor Unified School District (District) for expansion of the adjacent Mattie Washburn Elementary School. The RAW focuses on excavation and removal to mitigate soils impacted with excessive levels of the organochlorine pesticide chlordane and the metal cadmium in the area of the former residence and former detached garage located in the northern quarter of the Site. The purpose of the response action is to mitigate impacted soils that exceed the project-specific human health risk criteria to minimize human exposure to the identified chemicals of concern (COC).
