Document Description
The California Department of Water Resources owns and manages property near the State Water Project in the Orestimba Creek watershed. Stands of the invasive plant species giant reed (Arundo donax) have been identified on portions of this property. In an effort to reduce the potential spread of this plant into Orestimba Creek, DWR property. Foliar applications of Roundup (glyphosate) will occur during any time of the year to ensure full removal of the giant reed plants. All herbicide label restrictions will be followed. If foliar treatment is not fully successful, then mechanical methods to remove the plants will be utilized including hand tools or a backhoe to fully remove the plants; plant material would be disposed at an off-site facility in accordance with appropriate rules and regulations of disposal.
