Document Description
The Dept of Mental Health is proposing to install a fire water line at the Metro State Hospital in Norwalk. The approximately 3,000 foot alignment for the fire water line will run from the new pump house on Balsam Street, along Balsam Street, onto a short section of South Circle Drive and terminate at the new Central Kitchen. Excavation for the pipeline will occur within the existing roadway and not disturb any building. As precautionary measure, a qualified archeologist will be on call should any artifacts be uncovered curing excavation activities. The State Office of Historic Preservation has been consulted and concluded that installation of the fire water pipeline would not constitute a significant adverse effect on a historic resource. Beneficiaries of this project include the residents and staff of the Metropolitan State Hospital.
