Document Description
Conduct a 78 acre prescribed burn in the Jones Beach area north of Needle Rock in Sinkyone Wilderness State Park to reduce exotic species such as broom and limit the encroachment of brush and Douglas-fir into areas that have historically been grasslands. The burn area is divided into four blocks (Block A - 20 acres. Block C - 30 acres, Block D - 15 acres, Block E - 13 acres). Work will employ a backing fire with targeted flame lengths of 2 feet, the target scorch height is 10 feet. Short scratch lines will be constructed by and using standard fire fighting tools between County Road #435 and the 3 creeks.
