Document Description
This project will replace the existing Highway 101 Bridge over the Smith River. The existing bridge is physically deficient and functionally obsolete. The existing 1,050 ft long bridge was built in 1940. The bridge is ~32 ft wide, consisting of two 12' wide lanes, 1 ft wide shoulders, a 2 ft wide raised concrete sidewalk and concrete sidewalk and concrete bridge rail on each side. The new bridge will be ~62' wide, consisting of two 12' wide through lanes, a 12' wide acceleration lane for southbound traffic merging from Route 197, standard 8 ft shoulders, a 5 ft wide pedestrian walkway, barriers and rails.
