- Removal of nononative invasive plant species (e.g., red sesbania, giant reed, black locust, tree-of-heaven). Removal methods include manual removal (e.g., chain saws, weed wrenches, light-enhibiting material), mechanical removal (e.g., string trimmer), and chemical removal (e.g., herbicide). Herbicide application may include foliar spray, cut-stump and paint, and/or stem injection with appropriate formualtions (e.g., aquatic) of glyphosate, imazapyr, and/or triclopyr). Maintenance and removal of nonnative invasive plant species will improve wildlife and fish habitat, reduce localized flooding, and reduce vegetation fire fuel loads.
