Document Description
Pursuant to DSOD requirements, Georgia Pacific proposes to undertake maintenance activities in order to minimize further erosion, undercutting and rock spalling on and around the Pond 8 spillway on the Georgia Pacific property near Soldier Bay. The specific maintenance activities include placement of a berm above the mean high tide waterline, retrofit the dam spillway to convey the flow at the spillway past the cliff face construction area, pressure watch the crib wall and cliff face to remove loose debris, install rebar or rods into the cliff face secure wire mesh, place flowable fill concrete at the toe of the slope, and place a 4-6 inch thick layer of shotcrete over the crib wall and cliff face area.

The Spillway and Cribwall Maintenance Project ("Project") is an emergency project as set forth in CEQA Guidelines Section 15269(b) based on inspections, the stability assessment, and DSOD review which concluded that the dam may experience a failure due to: * Erosion along the toe of the concrete spillway; * Soil having loosened and eroded from the crib wall and general deterioration of the crib wall and embankment;
