The main objective of this project is to conduct bacteria source identification studies to establish a centralized Program with standard protocols. The Program will include a tiered approach to identify the sources of fecal pollution and quantify the loading of bacterial contamination on beaches. The Project aims to prioritize and recommend BMPs to reduce and/or eliminate bacterial sources.
The primary goal of this project is to identify the biological sources of fecal contamination as well as the physical and environmental factors that influence the levels of contamination on beaches, which have chronic bacterial contamination problems but have not yet received grant funding.
