Repair Existing Bulkhead Project
NOE - Notice of Exemption
The Repair Existing Bulkhead Project consists of the repair of a 50-year old wooden retaining wall. The soil behind the retaining wall will be excavated to relieve pressure on the falling wall. Then, four 12-inch steel pipes will be pile driven into the ground using a barge-crane to act as new supports for the wall. After the new supports are installed the retaining wall will be rebuilt and backfilled with clean fill dirt. All of the work will occur at low tide and no in water will occur. This project is temporarily impact 0.004 acre of waters of the United States.
The project meets the Categorical Exemption criteria under Title 14, Section 15301 of the California Code of Regulations, which exempts repair of existing structures involving negligible or no expansion of use.
