- The proposed project consists of rehabilitation and reconstruction work to comply with ADA requirement for wheelchair accessibility at five recreational project sites in the vicinity of Hell Hole Reservoir. The five project sites are: 1) Boat Ramp Parking (Hell Hole), 2) Hell Hole Vista Point, 3) Auxiliary Boat Parking (Hell Hole), 4) Bid Meadows Campground, and 5) Middle Meadows Campground. The project sites are located in the Eldorado National Forest. Construction will include modifications to accommodate ADA requirements, reconditioning of existing asphalt road surfaces, retrieval and placement of barrier rocks, installation of road signs, striping of road surfaces, clearing and grubbing as needed, installation of a road gate, and rehabilitation of drainage structures.

Driving time to Big Meadows Campground from Foresthill is about 1 1/4 hours, via Blacksmith Flat Rd (USFS #96 to USFS #23 to USFS #2), and just under 1 1/2 hours via Mosquito Ridge Rd (USFS #96 to USFS#17N12 to USFS #2). The project sites are generally at about 5,000 feet in elevation. USFS #96 reaches about 6,000 feet in elevation.
