Document Description
The project proposes an Energy Conservation Measure (ECM) for this facility, which includes three inter-related parts. Replace the existing 102-ton air cooled screw chiller with a new 210-ton, water cooled "TurboCor" chiller, complete with a new condenser water pump with variable frequency drive (VFD) and piping and associated equipment to be connected to the existing condenser water system that is serving the centrifugal chillers. Convert the existing primary-secondary pumping system to a "variable primary" pumping system. This consists of installing VFDs on the constant volume pumps including the primary chilled and condenser water pumps. Install a control system to optimize the central plant chilled and condenser water equipment, including all chillers, cooling towers, and pumps. The system will interface with the existing Metasys system and will be programmed to achieve optimal chiller sequencing based on actual loading and performance models. This ECM will provide energy efficiency upgrades. The existing units are corroded and inefficient. Replacing the units with new equipment will result in energy savings, because the current units are less efficient that the modern equipment. The construction contractor will follow any hazardous material waste handling and disposal with respect to appropriate local, state, and federal rules/regulations.
