Document Description
This project includes the replacement and reconstruction of facilities for the Manteca Branch Courthouse, currently located on approximately one-acre of land. The existing facility includes a one-story courthouse and three modular facilities. One of the modular facilities is located on the north side of the courthouse buildings and the other two are on the east side of the courthouse building. Currently, there are a total of two courtrooms on site. There is also surface parking located on the north side of the courthouse. The project includes the removal of all modular facilities and the reconstruction of this space (approximately 7,000sf) north of the existing courthouse. The number of courtrooms located on-site after the reconstruction will not change (2). The surface parking currently on-site will be reconfigured to the north of the new construction and east of the existing courthouse. American with Disabilities accessibility will be improved with the addition of two accessible parking spaces with a direct path of travel to the courthouse entry and a new accessible ramp. The total project area will not change (approximately one acre), the total number of employees will not change, and the total number of courtrooms will not change.

Reasons for Exemption
This project is exempt per a Class 2 exemption because the project consists of the replacement of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced. This project is exempt per a Class 32 exemption due to the following reasons: 1. The project is consistent with lcoal general planning designations as well as with applicable zoning designation and regulations. The general plan designation is public/quasi-public and the zoning is public/quasi-public; 2. The project is located in the city of Manteca, is no more than five acres, and is surrounded by urban uses; 3. The project has no value as habitat for endangered, rare, or threatened species.
