Document Description
NOTE: Final EA The project includes replacing the existing roadway and culverts at Halstead Meadow with a bridge, which will initiate the restoration of the lower Halstead Meadows to its previous wetland environment. A 30-day public review of the EA occured in 2007. The existing roadway embankment bisects Halstead Meadow, creating a concentrated flow and deeply incised channel on the downstream side of the road culverts. The project will restore a more natural sheet flow condition under a new bridge and provide long term road stability by removing the pipe culverts. A temporary one-lane detour will be built while the new bridge is under construction. Once the new bridge is fully operational the detour road will be removed and the meadow restored. Low spots in the meadow and the incised channel will be backfilled to restore the sheet flow conditions.
