Lost Creek Dam Improvements Project

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is executing Lake or Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2013-0171-R2 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, South Feather Water and Power Agency. The project is limited to lowering the dam spill crest, raising the dam crest, reinforcing the downstream dam face, and reinforcing the plunge pol area at the base of the dam to prevent scouring of the foundation material. In addition, the project would replace the existing wooden bridge over the dam with a new steel and concrete bridge deck. The bridge over the dam would be closed during construction. Any changes to the surface elevation of Lost Creek Reservoir would be minor during construction and would be within normal operating conditions. Net outflow from Sly Creek Powerhouse upstream of Lost Creek Reservoir would be maintained during construction and post construction. Existing haul road will be used for transport material to the site and may require maintenance. Approximately 5,000-10,000 cubic yards (cu. yd.) of concrete would be needed to construct the proposed modifications to the Lost Creek Dam. This concrete would be mixed at a portable concrete batch plant that would be located on private parcel approximately 2.5 miles from Lost Creek Dam on La Porte Road approximately one-quarter mile southwest of its intersection with Lost Creek Dam Road.
