Present land use is public street right-of-way. On the General Plan the area is designated for public street.

Document Description
The proposed message center sign would be located on the east side of Highway 101 near the Commerce Boulevard in the vicinity of State Farm Drive. The sign would occupy a portion of the existing right-of-way for Commerce Boulevard between the west side of Commerce Boulevard and Highway 101. This part of the Commerce Boulevard right-of-way has a paved pedestrian trail and bike trail. The sign will replace the electronic Spreckels Message Center sign which received approval in 2001. The new sign would consist of a 19 foot by 28 ½ foot double faced electronic panel supported by either a single pole or a double pole depending on underground utilities at the sign location that are found during construction of the sign footing. Total height of the sign would be 50 feet. The sign would operate on a 24 hours basis and would be primarily visibility from both north and south bound vehicles on Highway 101.
