Document Description
The Whittier Boulevard Specific Plan was adopted by the City in 2005. The WBSP was intended to guide future development within the Whittier Boulevard corridor and facilitate change in development patterns within the project area. The primary goal of the 2005 SBSP was to bring forward the true character of the City within the Whittier Boulevard corridor, by developing tightly-woven neighborhoods, distinct residential uses, and extensive streetscape improvements. The 2005 WBSP included measures to redefine and redistribute land uses, implement infrastructure improvements, and provided a range of updated design standards. The City intends to amend the existing WBSP to account for changes in the local economy and existing conditions that have occurred within the WBSP corridor since 2005. The City initiated the process to update the 2005 WBSP in 2009 when the City Council directed City staff to provide limited amendments to provide clarity in development standards and permitted land uses, correct mapping errors, and provide modifications/re-designation of the WBSP Commercial Expansion/Auto Sales Segment: The WBSP Amendment is proposed by the City to best serve the project area based on changes that have occurred since 2005.
