Document Description
Naval Air Weapons Station-China Lake constructed a new water production well (Well 24) in April - June 2009 to replace the existing Well 25 currently serving the navy's South Range Complex. Well 24 is located approximately 50 feet east and within the same fenced compound as an existing and operational arsenic treatment facility. Well 25 will be taken off-line and used for emergency purposes once Well 24 is permitted by the Department. Depth of the Well 24 is approximately 560 feet and has a capacity of approximately 250 gpm. Water from the well will be treated at the arsenic treatment system prior to entering the distribution system.

Reasons for Exemption
Well 24, was constructed in 2009 adjacent to an existing arsenic treatment facility. The well will replace an existing water production well that is at the end of its lifespan. The capacity of Well 24 is significantly the same as the capacity of Well 25.
