Leffingwell Landing Staircase Repairs
NOE - Notice of Exemption
Repair a 20 foot section of the end of the storm-damaged wooden staircase at the Leffingwell Landing northern day-use parking area at Hearst San Simeon State Park to restore public access to the beach. Work will:
* Replace up to 15 cubic yards of sand and soil that was washed out from the footing of the stair case to repair erosion damage and shore up the footing, using local sand from the site.
* Replace approximately 40 stairway treads and risers with pressure treated lumber with dimensions up to 5 feet in length 8 inches in width, and 1 inch thick.
This project consists of the repair and maintenance, of existing public facilities involving no expansion of use beyond that existing included as "trail or road repairs" in the Department of Parks and Recreation's list of exempt activities pursuant to CCR section 15300.4 and minor public alterations in the condition of land which does not involve removal of helathy, mature, scenic trees.
