Document Description
The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) is finalizing the remedy for the property known as the Oily Sludge Beds (OSB, the Site), which is located within a portion of the former Kaiser Steel Mill facility. The site is part of the Sewage Treatment Plant that was investigated in 1997. As a result of this earlier investigation, the OSB area was identified as requiring further investigation and characterization. DTSC, pursuant to the California Health and Safety Code, Division 20, Chapter 6.8 and the Consent Order between CCG Ontario, LLC (CCG) and DTSC dated August 10, 2000, oversaw this investigation and characterization of the nature and extent of contamination, and the associated assessments of human health and ecological concerns at the Site. The proposed IC for the Site is a land use convenant that restricts certain sensitive uses and requires maintenance of pavement on the Site as well as pavement that extends south of the Site up to the drainage channel that is located south of the access road.
