Document Description
The General Plan Update provides goals and policies to realize the vision of Fremont serving as a national model of how an auto-oriented suburb can evolve into a sustainable, strategically urban, modern city. The General Plan Update 2035 addresses the mandatory requirements of California law with Land Use, mobility, Public Facilities, Conservation, parks and recreation, and Safety (including Noise) elements. It also includes four elective elements of Economic Development, Community Character, Community Plans, and Sustainability. The Housing Element was adopted by the City and certified by the State in 2009, and will be incorporated in the General plan Update 2035 without substantial changes. The GP Update contemplates development capacity of approximately 16,000 additional households and 60,000 jobs.
