Document Description
The approved facility would include an approximately 125,000 s.f. Material Recovery Facility with offices that would receive solid waste from collection trucks, separate recyclable and green waste materials, and transfer the separated materials and solid waste off-site via transfer trucks. Operations are anticipated to begin in the year 2012 with the first-year of full operations occurring by 2014, as estimated by Waste Management. The certified EIR also analyzes the impacts of establishing and operating a 5,400 s.f. Household Hazardous Waste Facility to be operated by Los Angeles County. The HHWF has not been approved by the City of Azusa at this time and whether or not it proceeds is contingent upon a future agreement between the County and Waste Management and future consideration and approval by the City of Azusa.
