Document Description
The project is composed of a Basin Plan Amendment to establish a TMDL and an implementation plan to achieve the TMDL and related habitat enhancement goals. The Water Board is obligated under Section 303(d) of the Clean Water Act to develop a TMDL for Sonoma Creek to address its impairment by sediment. The Basin Plan Amendment includes: (a) numeric targets for sediment that protect water quality; (b) a total maximum daily load for sediment in Sonoma Creek; (c) allocations for all significant sediment source categories; (d) an implementation plan to achieve the TMDL and related habitat goals (e.g., habitat complexity, baseflow, and fish passage); and (e) a monitoring program to evaluate progress toward meeting the targets and goals.
