Document Description
The Water Systems Improvements project will replace the existing aging facility, originally constructed by Aerojet in 1930's, with a modern and more efficient water treatment and distribution system.
The existing electrical control building and the chlorination building will be removed and replaced with a 47' by 15' concrete block building, constructed adjacent to the existing pipe vault. The building foundation will be a concrete slab with perimeter footings extending 18" below grade. The 22,000 gallon water pressure tank and the air compressor that services it will be removed. The foundation for the pressure tank will be abandoned in place. Various above ground pipes will be modified, rerouted, replaced or removed. An existing PG&E transformer will be removed and a new transformer will be placed at a location outside the existing perimeter fence at the North East corner of the water treatment yard.
Construction work will require the contractor to do excavations for the building foundation, water pipe connections and installation and grade adjustments to endure proper drainage away from structures and equipment. All construction work will occur within the existing water treatment yard's previously disturbed areas.
