Document Description
The Applicant intends to alter the creek flows by installing a two horse power submersible pump to divert 600 gallons of water a day for domestic use, from a small pond which is fed from a spring. The pump shall enclosed in a 3 by 3 foot box with 1/4 inch screen material to prevent any aquatic organisms from being pulled into the pump, and shall be elevated no less than 6 inches from the bottom of the pond to prevent all the water from being diverted. The pump shall have a flow meter to determine the rate of flow. The Applicant may divert water during the dry months of the year, June 1st to Decemeber 1st but the Department may reserve the right to prevent diversion in dry years to protect resources. Red-legged frogs and southwestern pond turtles have been seen in this location. This pond may provide the only water for wildlife during summer months, for several miles.
