Four chlorination stations (two retrofits at the Sixth St. and Tippecanoe sites and two new buildings at the Sunnyside and Garner B sites) are proposed to eliminate the City's current use of gaseous chlorine and replace with liquid sodium hypochlorite to provide redundant stations on all supply systems. On-site improvements will include site work, patio covers, tanks, pumps, controls, and two new masonry block buildings.

One of the four sites is located in Riverside County at the Garner 13 Treatment Plant south of Placentia Ln., west of Sieck Rd. The remaining three other locations are within San Bernadino County at the Sixth St. Chlorination Station. east of Waterman Ave., north of Sixth St.: the Tippecanoe Chlorination Station. North of Riverview Dr., east or Tippecanoe Ave.: and the Sunnyside Chlorination Station, south of Cooley Ave., east of Gage St. A seperate Notice of Exemption was filed with the San Bernadino Clerk or the Board of Supervisors for these three locations.

Reasons for Exemption
No environmental concerns are anticipated as the sites are relatively flat and will not require much grading and will involve limited construction of new, small structures associated with utility facilities. Also, the conversion from gaseous chlorine to sodium hypochlorite will reduce the potential of negative impacts on human health in the surrounding areas.
