Document Description
This project is the approval of a Removal Action Work Plan (RAW) by the Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), prepared by URS Corporation for the Department. The selected alternative in the RAW proposes contaminated soil excavation, characterization, disposal, confirmation sampling, backfill, and long-term monitoring of groundwater to assess remedy performance. The selected remedial alternative proposes removal of the soil contaminated with arsenic and hexavalent chromium at levels that pose a significant threat to human health and the environment. The RAW identifies an arsenic cleanup standard in soil of 13mg/kg, to comply with future intended unrestricted land use scenario and for consistency with background concentrations. Groundwater goals in the RAW specify 10mg/L for both arsenic and hexavalent chromium, and 50 mg/L for total chromium based upon drinking water standards.
