Document Title
Salton City Landfill Expansion Project/CUP #10-0002
Document Type
EIR - Draft EIR
Received
Present Land Use
Imperial County MSW Landfill; Govt/Special Public; Special Purpose Facility
Document Description
The existing landfill utilizes 7.8 acres located within a 55-acre disturbed land footprint of its 320-acre property. The expansion will remove the 7.8-acre disposal area of the landfill and new composite-lined cells would be used for the remaining life of the project site. The expanded area would extend westward and total 287.3 acres. The height of the landfill would be increased to about 250 feet above natural ground surface for accommodating approximately 65 million cubic yards of municipal solid waste at full development. The proposed expansion would extend the existing landfill's life approximately 30 years to help meet the current and future waste disposal needs of counties in Southern CA and the County of Imperial.
