Document Description
The proposed Hillcrest Park Bank Stabilization Project would repair damage incurred during a December 2005, greater than 20-yr run-off event at Hillcrest Community Park in Concord, CA. The proposed project will demolish and repair a severely damaged bridge abutment, stabilize failed channel banks and in doing so protect a bicycle/pedestrian bridge, adjacent park trails, and water and electric utilities lines located at the site. Biotechnical bank stabilization methods such as native willow planted rock slopes and large woody debris (LWN) deflectors will be installed along channel banks to stabilize erosion areas and provide additional habitat complexity for aquatic species. The proposed actions will ensure continued public access and utilization of an important community park transportation corridor, and protect channel banks from further erosion.
