Document Description
CDFW has executed an Amendent to Incidental TAke Permit No. 2081a-2011-021-02, pursuant to section 2801 (a) of the Fish and GAme Code to the project Applicant, Sacramento Municipal Utility District. The project was amended to include the following additional habitat enhancement activities: burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia) nest box construction, pond dewatering to remove nonnative fish and bullfrogs, replacement fencing to allow grazing of uplands, and interim Bank management and monitoring activities. Burrowing owl box sites were selected in areas where no pre-existing burrows occurred (i.e., no potential Covered Species or burrowing owl burrows). Boxes were constructed and installed using the guidelines in "A Simple Artificial Box Design" with some modifications. All boxes were modified to include a 3-inch diameter acrylonitrile butadiene styrene observation pipe which extended from the top of the central nesting chamber to the mound surface. Additional modification included replacing the central nesting chambers for boxes with plastic 5-gallon buckets instead of irrigation boxes. The central nesting chamber and both openings were marked via GPS and were covered with eucalyptus leaves, shredded bark, or gravel. Additionally, this Amendment changes the expiration date of the ITP to Oct. 15, 2017.
