Preliminary Engineering Studies for Overwater and Land Geotechnical Exploration

The DWR has prepared a Supplement to the Mitigated Negative Declaration for overwater and land geotechnical borings, performing cone penetration tests (CPT) and digging approximately 30 small test pit in order to test soils in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. The Department has determined that at approximately 20 boring locations, the depth of the boring must be 300 feet rather than 225 feet, for obtaining information for the construction shafts for the Tunnel/Pipeline option. The supplemental documentation provides information on this minor technical change.
