Document Description
The Project is permanent closure of the at-grade railroad crossing at Dinky Way (also known as "Dinky Road" and Dinky Avenue") in the City of Colfax. On July 28, 2009, the Colfax City Council approved the temporary closure of the crossing. The Project is located at the intersection of Dinky Way and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. This approximately 320 foot portion of Dinky Avenue (between North Main Street and Forest Hill Road) is in poor condition with a combination of gravel and badly deteriorated pavement. Railroad crossing signage and equipment is limited to a couple of static signs on each approach of Dinky Avenue. The purpose of the Project is to eliminate hazards at Railroad-Highway intersections (crossings) with funds provided by the Department of Caltrans under Section 130, Title 23 USC. The Project includes guardrail barriers, road warning signs, roadway striping, street lights, fencing, drainage headwall repair, minor landscape vegetation trimming, and reconstruction and rehabilitation of the existing intersection at Foresthill Street and Dinky Avenue, Dinky Avenue to SR 174, and approximately a 250 foot portion of Foresthill Street.
